Manchester United received huge boost ahead of Champions League clash

Manchester United have received a huge injury boost ahead of their Champions League clash against Galatasaray. Kobbie Mainoo has returned to full training ahead of the Red Devils must win game at Old Trafford.

The youngster was the early star of Erik ten Hag’s pre-season tour with Manchester United. He was named man of the match for his performance in a 2-0 win against Arsenal.

Mainoo was rewarded for that display with a start against Real Madrid in United’s next pre-season game.

However, the young United academy product ended the game with an ankle injury and left the stadium on crutches.

It was a huge blow to the youngster, as well as Ten Hag – who is said to be ‘in love’ with the midfielder’s play.

United’s struggles in midfield this season would have seen Mainoo in the starting XI during the absences of Scott McTominay and Mason Mount.

It has been a frustrating two months for the youngster. But he was pictured in full training today as United prepare for the visit of Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Ten Hag’s side will need a victory in their Champions League clash against Galatasaray to boost their group qualification chances. This is following the Red Devil’s defeat in their opening Champions League encouter against Bayern Munich. United suffered a 4-3 against the Bundesliga giants and will hope to bounce back to win.

Meanwhile, the best Mainoo could hope for is a place on the bench on Tuesday. The Saturday’s game against Brentford a more realistic opportunity for his return.

Antony also returned to training, having been given a leave of absence in recent weeks.

The Brazilian has been accused of domestic abuse by a woman in Brazil, though he denies the charges.
